Tarte's Clay Face Shaping Palette

Tarte's Clay Face Shaping Palette

I love Tarte’s eye shadow palettes. They are creamy, blendable, and super long lasting on my oily eyelids, but I hadn't tried their face powders. So, when Tarte released their Clay Face Shaping Palette a few months ago, I thought this palette would be a great and versatile option. According to Tarte, this is a universal sculpting palette that contains 12 essential Amazonian clay matte powders that multitask as universal eye, nose and brow shapers, and contouring shades. I love multitasking palettes, so I headed to Sephora to check in out. When I saw the colors in real life if was pretty disappointed. The colors were very warm and better for bronzing than contouring. There are a set of more neutral-tone colors, but even then, the contour shade was not cool enough for me. If I bother to contour, I like cooler browns, like Kevin Aucoin's contour palette. For a comparison, see below.

When I bought the Jaclyn Hill palette, I loved it but wish there were more matte shadows, like a better all over shadow like ivory and nude. I immediately thought of this Tarte palette. So, Ii broke down and ordered it - and I love it. But, purely as an eyeshadow palette with a few bronzing options. No face shaping contours or brow shapers.

So, if you are looking for an all-in-one contour palette, pass on this. But if you need of warm and neutral matte shades of whites, browns, and black, then this is the palette for you!
