I find these types of posts both utterly ridiculous (why in the world do I want to see someone's trash) and totally addicting (oh, so I guess that blogger really did like that product!). So, I decided to write a blog about it to share my thoughts, but also as a record for myself to remember what I liked and what I didn't. I try so many products that I can't keep it straight! So, here we go!
Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion
Love this! I would never have picked it up on my own, but it came in one of my monthly subscription boxes. And, I am so glad it did! It lasted about six months with me using it twice a week. I want to repurchase it, but it is not cheap. Still, I think, worth it.
Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer
This was ok. Great if you are super lazy and want a quick bit of color. But, the color was a bit off. Probably won't repurchase it unless I want to use it to prolong the life of a spray tan.
Bosica Charcoal Pore Pudding Intensive Wash-off Treatment
I received this as either a deluxe sample or in one of my beauty boxes. I am not a huge fan of charcoal products as they tend to be too drying for my skin. But, once I figured out to use this product only where I really needed it, I liked it much better. Still, I won’t be purchasing the full-sized product because I have too many other products like this to test.
IGK Hot Girls Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner
I am a big fan of IGK styling products, so I was excited to receive this sample. I liked it fine, but it’s nothing special. I won’t be purchasing the full-sized products. I think the Bumble and Bumble Hairdressers Invisible Oil Shampoo and Conditioner is much more hydrating for my multi-processed thick hair.
EOS Lip Balm Honeysuckle Smooth Sphere
These were one of my favorite discoveries back in 2015. I have one in each room of my house and gave them away to all the ladies in my life for Christmas that year. I am FINALLY making my way through them, and while I still like them, I won’t be repurchasing any right now. I’ve recently become obsessed with the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask and have been using these like a normal lip balm. Sadly, it’s much more expensive, so I won’t be gifting everyone I know with it this Christmas.
Tatcha Luminous Skin Mist
As another sample sent to me, I didn’t know what to expect with this mist. I assumed it was a setting spray – it so isn’t. But rather, it’s used best after setting sprays and only if you feel like your skin needs a little bit of dewiness. For example, over the past week my skin has been pretty decent, so in lieu of using foundation, I’ve used It Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Correcting Cream in shade Porcelain Beige with Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Finish in shade 2 for a bit of added coverage. This combo makes my skin look a bit more matte than I like, so about halfway through the day, I used the Tatcha spray to add a bit of luminosity and dewiness. It’s a decent product, and if get one for free again, great! But, I’m not willing to pay nearly $50 for it.
Ouai Texture Hair Spray
I received this in a Sephora bundle – because I can’t stop buying them! – and liked the product fine. It does add both hold and texture as it claims. This was my go-to product until I discovered IGK Down and Out Dirty Spray which is an amped up version of the Ouai spray. Dirty Spray does the same thing, but also adds volume and grit to the hair, which I LOVE. So, if you have more fine hair or a more refined hairstyle, the Ouai Texture Hair Spray might work for you. However, if you are like me and are looking for the lived-in, just-rolled-out-of-bed look and have thick hair, Dirty Spray is the way to go. So, in short, I won’t be repurchasing the Ouai Spray, but if it comes in a bundle or as a deluxe free sample, I certainly won’t be mad!
Jan Marini BioGlycolic Facial Cleanser
I purchased this based on the recommendation of an esthetician friend about two years ago. I’ve used it on and off, but not regularly enough to recommend it. And, now that I have so many different skincare products to try, I don’t see myself re-purchasing it.
Clinique Moisture Surge Hydrating Supercharged Concentrate
This was another sample sent to me, but one that I had heard good things about. But, for me, it was just ok. Turns out, I don’t really gel consistency as part of my skincare routine. Also, I found the capsules in the formula kind of weird. All in all, this product didn’t offer me nearly the amount of hydration as I had hoped. Maybe it could’ve been a great product for air travel, but for everyday use, it’s not for me.
L’oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise
I have repeatedly waxed poetic ad nauseam about this product, so I won’t bore you. Bottom line, I love it. I do find that it needs to be replaced more frequently than my other favorite mascara, Blinc Mascara Amplified, but I still save money on it in the long run.
Masks from my Facetory Seven Luxe Box: TamiSense EFG Mask and White Truffle Oil Mask
Out of the six or so beauty subscription boxes I’ve belonged to, this is my favorite. For about $20/month, I am sent seven “luxury” face masks (“luxury” being defined as each mask ranges from $3.50-10 each). Some I’ve even repurchased over the past year – see earlier posts – and some I haven’t. Out of these two masks, I liked the Tami Sense Revitalizing All in One mask the best, which figures – it is $10/each! Anyway, I’m a huge fan of Facetory and think that anyone interested in Asian sheet masks should give it a try. In fact, I’m wearing this one now as I write this post (unfortunately sold out on the Facetory website). I’m such a multitasker ;)
Hope you find my "trash" useful, and have a great day!
