Top 6 Face Base Products of 2017
Weird name, I know. Maybe a better name would have been “Top Five Moisturizers and Primers,” but one product I use twice a day. I dunno. Anyway, these are products amazing product finds from 2017 that I currently use and will repurchase again – if I haven’t already! They are listed in order of application.
L’Oreal’s Revitalift CicaCream
2017 has brought the democratization of skincare with companies like The Ordinary releasing quality skincare products for 1/3 the price of other brands. Drugstore brands like L’Oreal and Mario Badescu are constantly innovating and drugstores themselves are actively cultivating a wider range of amazing but affordable products. So, I was pretty excited when I received this from Influentster when I received* this product in exchange for an honest review on their website. This product claims to strengthen moisture barrier resulting in the appearance of wrinkles and improving overall tonality. The two main ingredients that help with this is Pro-Retinol and Centella Asiatica (aka Gotu Kola Pennywort, Wild Violet) which is a traditional Chinese medicine originally used to treat the healing of wounds to speed up healing and prevent scarring. Sounds good to me! Now, after nearly 8 weeks of using this product twice daily, I have seen wrinkles fade – especially the stupid one under my left eye, and an overall improvement in skin tonality. I’m very impressed by this product and will repurchase it ($13-17) when I run out of this tube.
First Aid Beauty’s Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer
This year I have become a huge fan of two-in-one priming moisturizers. I like to layer a decent amount of skincare in the morning, so this product helps to eliminate one step but still perform well.
This is a thinner version of the priming moisturizers that I tried this year. It is still super moisturizing and, mixed with Ren’s Perfect Canvas, it is the prefect combination to make my skin feel moisturized and makeup stay in place all day long.
Ren Clean Skincare’s Perfect Canvas
This is a newer find, but I really like it as I mentioned above. It is a primer and serum mixture which is silicone-free but still has pore-filling qualities (using agave extract) and adds a beautiful luminosity to the skin.
Charlotte Tilbury’s Wonder Glow
Also packed with skin-loving ingredients, this primer adds a more noticeable glow than Perfect Canvas, so it is really best used under more matte foundations. Or, if you are a lazy cow like me, slap this on, swipe a bit of mascara and call it a day!
