Hi.

I'm just a girl rapidly approaching mid-life who believes in awesome skincare, grown-up makeup, effortless hair, and classic style. Enjoy!

Winter Skincare Routine, Part 1

Winter Skincare Routine, Part 1

I love skincare so much that I am willing to get up 20 minutes or earlier so I can take the time to prep my skin for the day ahead. Not all of these steps or products are for everyone, but they work for me and have been resulting in great skin over the past few months.

Step 1: Cleanse Skin
Because I give my skin such a thorough cleansing ever night, I don’t spend a lot of time re-cleansing it in the morning, but rather use a few swipes of IT Cosmetics Miracle Water 3-in-1 Glow Tonic (used on Shiseido Facial Cottons, of course!)  At its core, it is a micellar water, but like all IT Cosmetics products, it has antiaging skincare ingredients and is meant to be left on your skin unlike some other micellar waters.

Step 2: Hydrating Mask
Benton's Snail Bee High Content Mask $19.60/10
This mask has both snail secretion and bee venom - gross, I know - but, both are useful for skin smoothing and fine line reduction. It's a great treatment mask.

Belborn 5 Minute Miracle Mask $3.50
I’ve talked about this mask before, so I won’t bore you, but if you were up a bit too late the night before, this mask is magic. You need to make sure to let all the essence absorb, or if you don’t have time, rinse your face and continue with your routine, or else it may pill.

Step 3: Device
NuFace Mini Facial Toning Device and Gel Primer
I’ve been using the NuFace for about nine months now, and I really like it. I may do a full review on it in the future, but suffice to say that it makes enough of a difference that I am willing to spend the 5 minutes a day 5-6 times a week day using it. I am not a big fan of their gels, so I like to use the device while my sheet mask is on. After about 5 minutes, I peel back half of the mask and work on one side of my face using the essence gel from the mask as the conduit for the toning device.

Overall, this skincare part 1 takes about 15-20 minutes. And it is time well spent! Check out next week’s post for the second half of my winter skincare routine.

Hope you find this helpful. Or, at least, interesting.
